Gideon was chosen by God to lead Israel as his instrument, but not as a king. Gideon knew that and because of God’s display of power that he witnessed firsthand Gideon sought to follow God’s law. But he failed. From the gold of the spoils that he collected he had an image fashioned that brought sin into his house and to all of Israel. Gideon is an example to us that no matter how many victories God works in our lives, when we begin to walk in our own strength we will most certainly fail God.
