It took me about 12 minutes to read this passage. It is interesting to note that one of the first acts that David commanded as king was not to build himself a palace or monument. His first act to bring the ark of God’s covenant, the earthly “throne” of god, to the city from where David intended to rule. I believe this is because David was so dependent upon God they he knew his leadership would fail if he did not continue to give God first place in his life. Though there was a three month delay in completing this tasks David did center the leadership of Israel under the reign of God Almighty.
