It took me 20 minutes to read this passage. The Hebrew writer covers a lot of topics in this section, but the main theme is the superiority of Christ’s sacrifice and his priesthood. Because Jesus lived a sinless life, fully in line with God’s will, and then he chose to lay down his life for those of us who have sinned; that one sacrifice did what the multitude of animal sacrifices over the centuries could not. Jesus’ sacrifice paid for ALL the sins of ALL the people through ALL history. And it was his sinless life that also made Jesus’ priesthood superior to the priesthood of Aaron. With the superior priesthood and the superior sacrifice Jesus can call us to live out our lives in complete submission to him, and not fall back. (10:39) By his strength we can continue pressing onward.
